About the Library:

Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhopal is a constituent unit of the NCERT, New Delhi under Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The Institute Library, called as Learning Resource Center (LRC), is regarded as one of the best libraries in Madhya Pradesh in terms of the size, and nature of collections it posseses over last 60 years and the nature of services it extends to a veriety of users including students, teachers, research scholars, training participants, and others. The library was awarded with "Best Academic Library of the year - 2019" by MP Library Association (MPLA). The library started its functioning in the year 1964-65 when the college was established. It assumes a significant place in the teaching learning programmes of the Institute as well as catering the educational needs of the states of Western region of the country. It is rapidly emerging as learning laboratory for leaveraging the atmosphere for construction of knowledge. The Library is fully automated with State of Art Technologies, like:

2. "DSpace" Software for creation of digital Institutional Repository (IR)

3. RFID (Radio-frequency identification)

4. Open Source Software (Koha,Dspace,Joomla,Vufind,SubjectPlus, etc.)

5. Open Cloud technologies for various library services

6. Open Educational Resources (OER)

7. Social Networking platforms for wider connection with library users

8. E-Library setup with Online Books,Journals and Databases

9. QR Code for user access through mobiles

10. AR/VR technology for Augmented and Virtual Reality content

11. Many other tools and technologies

 

Vision & Mission

Vision : The Vision for Institute Library is to provide access to information to its users in a networked environment and to become a premier Learning Resource Centre with a state-of-the-art library resources and services in Education, Science & Social Sience and related areas.
Mission : The mission of the Institute Library is to provide access to quality information resources in all forms to the faculty, students and staff in support of teaching, learning and research mission of the Institute. With a commitment to excellence in services, the Library offers information resources and innovative services to support the intellectual inquiry, research and lifelong learning needs of RIE Bhopal community.

Library Infrastructure

The library block is situated at the north-west part of the main building of the Institute back facing the panoramic natural scenery of Upper Lake of Bhopal. The two storied library building has floor area of 10,000 sq.ft, spread over 4 big size reading halls with equal stack space and having 50 seating capacity in each. In-house servers are maintained for Library management and e-Library services with proper Wi-Fi access for students within library, from hostels and from their homes 24x7.

Library Block :

Hall No.1:

Through the main entrance of the Library users enter the first hall (Hall No.1) where important sections such as: Reference section, Text Books section, Current periodicals section, etc. are available. From the first hall the users can have their access to hall No.2, 3 and 4,.

Hall No.2:

The hall no.2, which is located beneath the hall no.1, where bound Volumes of journals, lesser demanded books, and other materials are stored.

Hall No.3:

Hall no.3 has the Newspapers Reading section, Light Magazine Corner, New arrivals display area, Circulation counter, stack area for books in English bearing DDC class numbers from 001 to 499, also separate corners for special natured publications by NCERT, Govt. of India, UNESCO, and UGC. Books on subjects like Philosophy, Social Sciences, Education, and languages are kept in this hall. Acquisition and Technical sections are also attached to this hall.

Hall No.4:

The Hall number 4 is situated in the ground floor, housing the books having DDC class numbers from 500 to 999 in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujrati and Urdu languages. Books on all branches of Science, Technology, Commerce, Fine Arts, History etc. are kept in this hall. The reading area has been provided near the stack area. The old issues of newspapers are available in this section for consultation.
